Patience is A Virtue

This past week had brought something to light while I was hurrying to get to my destination. There was an unfortunate accident, and traffic was at a complete stop. I frantically tried to find an alternate route. Every turn I made, there was another roadblock. Was this a sign?

As I observed the drivers around me, I realized we were all scurrying like mice trying to escape a tsunami. Would the earth stop its rotation if we didn’t get to our destination on time?I’m starting to think this all started with the microwave. The idea of cooking a meal every night or waiting for the oven to turn was time-consuming. Then came the VCR with a fast-forward button. Now it’s just this great button on your remote control, so you ever have to watch a commercial again!

I believe these two inventions have invented the concept that the only reality is one with instant gratification. It sounds almost ridiculous, but over the years, we have created many ways to bypass the need for patience.

If we are not living our life set on fast-forward and 30-second gratification, our presence will undoubtedly be overshadowed.

It seems the profound statement, “Patience is a Virtue,” appears to be interpreted as a weakness than a strength, leading to the open-ended question, “How did we get here?”
